London’s Most Exclusive Private Members’ Clubs

Estimated reading time: 5 minutes

Nestled within the rich tapestry of London's historical backdrop, the city proudly houses a collection of the world’s most exclusive private members' clubs. These fine establishments open their doors to unveil opulent retreats that facilitate networking opportunities, the meeting of like-minded individuals, and lavish gatherings in world-renowned restaurants and bars.

Often these private organisations provide an array of 5 star amenities, including beautiful swimming pools, state-of-the-art gyms, co-working spaces, tailor-made events that cater to your interests, and elegantly appointed rooms to provide you with a home away from home.

We've curated a selection of the very finest private members’ clubs that London has to offer, with must-have memberships for 2024.

Annabel’s, Mayfair

Known for being one of London’s most prestigious private members’ clubs, Annabel’s was founded in the early 1960’s by Mark Birley who had named the club after his then-wife Lady Annabel Goldsmith. Birley had taken over a Berkeley Square townhouse, carving it into a sought-after spot where aristocrats could drink in the basement nightclub and it has been said to be the only nightclub that Queen Elizabeth II ever visited.

Under new ownership Annabel’s reopened in 2018, doors away from the ‘60s original, and members get access to all the spaces inside, including several restaurants, outdoor terrace, cigar salon, spa, and basement dance floor.

Membership: £3,750 per annum, + £1,850 joining fee

Housed in a converted warehouse in edgy Shoreditch, members can make use of the bowling alley, Cowshed spa, rooftop pool with unparalleled views across London, as well as the global spaces on offer.

George, Mayfair

Annabel’s playful little brother, George, lies on Mayfair’s Mount Street. Founded by Mark Birley in 2001, and named after his faithful resident dachshund, this dog-friendly private members’ club boasts a doggy-style menu with the likes of pet friendly caviar, as well as an extensive taste of the Mediterranean (for those without four-legs). After a recent 18 month refurbishment, George opened with an impressive collection of works by David Hockey, with a solid bronze circular bar and gold glass tiled ceiling. Members can enjoy an elegant restaurant, bar and Mayfair’s largest outdoor terrace.

Membership: £2,000 per annum, +£1,250 joining fee. For under 35’s: £1,000 per annum, +£500 joining fee.

Boasting a treasure trove of additional amenities, including a rooftop space with a heated swimming pool and terrace, access to the Ned’s Club Spa and Cowshed spas as well as all other Ned’s Clubs globally. It's worth noting that, despite being part of the Soho House empire, membership at The Ned does not automatically grant you access to other Soho House properties, as it operates independently from the broader Soho House network.
